Artist Statement:This is a very different kind of darkness : a terrible darkness at midday , an eclipse overthrowing the natural order , 'over the whole land ', inescapable. What does it mean? it's as though God is dead .to the friends of jesus , including the women watching helplessly as he dies on the cross, this is the death of all their hopes. the place is called The Skull - and the darkness in the sky seems to reflect the darkness in the minds of torturers, politicians, soldiers. We see that human beings,though made in the image of god , can deny God and destory each other .
But yet we still hold on to our believe, hope for the light , forge ahead and live each day , this is the hidden treasure that lies within
