ABOUT THE ARTIST (CELESTINE PIUS )

ARTIST PROFILE:

Celestine has emerged as a multi-talented artist with huge capacity for graphics , painting and

sculpting , amazingly excelling in these almost in equal dimensions .it was not a surprise that

he went on to become a creative director in one of the oldest advertising agencies in Lagos -

Audio Visual Campaigns founded by veteran Mr.JIC Obi . He trained at nigerian institute of

journalism (NIJ) Lagos and other professional studies to sharpen his communication skills .
Apart from the creative arts he also has penchant for the dramatic arts as well and

this has also seen him play roles on stage. Advertising has not restricted him in any way as he

has shown through the exhibitions he has held with such groups as Art zero in recent times ,

even though he has maintained a thriving but committed private practice .
Unlike most artists of his generation , he strongly believes that there would be no

need for an artist to participate in an exhibition except he or she has discovered a new

aesthetic point and something for his audience to appreciate .

Apart from his numerous ther businesses ,this artist continues to discover new

aesthetic points especially in the area of mixed where he has experimentted for some years now

. his metal and wrought iron works adorn numerous offices and private homes in nigeria
on a typical day, this artist could be found working in his studios , creating graphic

ideas for companies and discovering new areas to enhance his growing art empire .
Ever eager to improve himself in line with contemporary professional pratice , Celestines

Pius is today among the few safety experts in Nigeria and is a member of numerous

professional bodies including the society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and he has worked in the

studios of late Fred Archibong , Godwin Imo and is a keen follower of the legendary Abayomi

Barber School of Art founded by the artist who is an expert in human sculpture and surrealism
